INSTALLER-REPAIRPERSON JOB OPENING

Garden Valley Telephone Company, an Equal Opportunity Employer, is now considering resumes for a full-time Installer-Repairperson. The applicant hired will generally be scheduled to work 40 hours per week (Monday through Friday), and must be willing and able to work extended hours when workload requires. The applicant hired will also be placed on a call-out list, Saturday rotation, and on-call schedules. The initial reporting location is Erskine, Minnesota. The person selected for this position will also be assigned to work in other areas when required by the Company.

CLASSIFICATION: Installer-Repairperson

Primary duties will include, but are not limited to: insuring that our members receive prompt and quality service; promote, sell, install and maintain telecommunications equipment and services, security equipment and services (including intrusion, Smart Home, Medical Alert, access control and CCTV), video products and services (such as IP, cable television, and GV Local Channel equipment), PC hardware and software, data network equipment, data network cabling, local and wide area networks; as well as all other services and equipment offered by the Company; working at Company-sponsored events (such as customer appreciation days, parades and fairs); be responsible on a daily basis for service orders, trouble tickets and sales activities in assigned areas; and accurate and timely completion of required paperwork.

Requirements and preferred qualifications for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Applicant must:

  • Have experience in the sale, installation, and maintenance of single-line telecommunications equipment.
  • Have experience in the sale, installation, and maintenance of Key, PABX, Hosted business phone systems, and security equipment (including alarm, Smart Home, access control and CCTV systems).
  • Have experience in the sale, installation, and maintenance of Video products and services and, be able to install and maintain GVTV School and local content channel equipment including tri-caster, cameras, and audio equipment.
  • Work extended hours, without advance notice, when workload requires.
  • Have a valid Power Limited Technician license. (If applicant does not have this license, license must be obtained within 12 months of the date applicant qualifies to take the licensure exam.)
  • Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with subscribers, co-workers, and the public.
  • Maintain and operate test equipment and tools used by Garden Valley.
  • Learn and adapt to technology and training as is required on an ongoing basis.
  • Be able and willing to work and drive during inclement weather and in adverse conditions.
  • Climb ladders and be comfortable working with heights and in confined spaces.
  • Do the necessary paperwork and recordkeeping associated with service requirements and other records necessary for the operation of the Company.
  • Obtain proper licensing as required by law.
  • Have neat and orderly work habits.
  • Be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license.

Preference may be given to applicants:

  • With strong sales experience.
  • Able to install and maintain FTTH equipment and its applications, Internet, and digital IP video.
  • With a working knowledge of digital carrier equipment and its applications.
  • With experience in installation and maintenance of Panasonic business communications systems.
  • With experience in installation and maintenance of security equipment including Alarm, Smart Home, Access Control, and CCTV systems.
  • With experience in computer networking and software applications.

TWO PART-TIME SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE JOB OPENINGS

Garden Valley Telephone Company, an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer, is now considering resumes for two part-time Service Representatives.  The applicants hired will generally be scheduled to work 32 to 40 hours per week, depending upon the Company’s requirements.   The work schedule for this position will generally be working shift schedules, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.  Applicants must be willing and able to work extended hours when workload requires.

Primary duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:   a) work with all aspects of the Company’s service order and trouble ticket functions associated with the service center; b) perform functions associated with customer accounts, customer inquiries, sales and service functions associated with Garden Valley’s products and services, and Answering and Dispatch Service; c) use a multi-line telephone system and computer and other technology in performing all service office functions d) work at Company sponsored events such as customer appreciation days, parades and fairs.

Requirements and/or preferred qualifications for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Applicant must:

Have proficient telephone skills and the ability to communicate (both orally and in writing) with the public, co-workers, and various business contacts in a cheerful, professional and effective manner.

  • Have knowledge of Garden Valley’s eLation billing and other service software and their applications.
  • Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with new service requests, service changes, billing inquiries, service questions and concerns, including performing troubleshooting steps for applicable products and services, with dispatching to appropriate personnel.
  • Promote, sell and upsell Garden Valley services to new and existing customers, including utilizing the elations upsell functionality.
  • Be able to pay close attention to detail and maintain confidentiality.
  • Be dependable, willing and flexible (without advance notice) to work any hours and shifts required by the Company, including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Have good mathematical and analytical skills and knowledge.
  • Work independently and make sound decisions using information at hand.
  • Be very organized, possess time management skills, and have neat and orderly work habits.
  • Have good keyboarding skills, be able to use a calculator and work with a computer.
  • Be able and willing to share job knowledge with other employees.
  • Be able and willing to adjust to changes in primary duties, as required by the Company.

Preference may be given:

  • To applicants with strong knowledge of eLation billing and other service software and their applications as well as Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • To applicants with strong knowledge of Garden Valley’s products and services, including the ability to demonstrate their features and functions.
