TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION WORKER JOB OPENING
2017 Construction Season
The Garden Valley Telephone Company, an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer, is now accepting resumes from qualified persons for a temporary construction worker position for the 2017 construction season.

Primary duties will include, but are not limited to: Installation and maintenance of underground copper, coax, and fiber optic cables, both new and in restoration efforts, using plowing and digging equipment.

Requirements and qualifications for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
A. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
B. Applicants must have the training, experience and/or ability to work with telecommunications cable; and have the ability to work with equipment operators and help maintain heavy construction equipment and tools used by the Company.
C. Preference may be given to applicants who have prior cable splicing and locating; and/or other telecommunications and construction equipment experience.
D. Applicants must be willing to learn and adapt to technology and undertake required training.
E. Applicants must have a valid Minnesota driverís license. Preference may be given to applicants with Class B or greater CDL.
F. Applicants must have neat and orderly work habits; and be able and willing to work, when required, under adverse conditions.
G. Applicants must be capable of some heavy lifting up to approximately 60 pounds (such as working with reels of cable); and, if offered the job, must submit to the Company an acceptable physicianís examination report confirming his or her physical ability to perform the required job functions.
H. Applicants must be willing and able, without advance notice, to work extended hours when workload requires.

DISTRICT REPRESENTATIVE JOB OPENING RLF,
St. Hilaire (less east section), and TRF (west of Hwy 59)
Garden Valley Telephone Company, an Equal Opportunity Employer, is now considering resumes for a full-time District Representative. The applicant hired will generally be scheduled to work 40 hours per week (Monday through Friday), with overtime based on workload requirements. The applicant hired will also be placed on a call-out list, Saturday rotation, and on-call schedules. Initially, this position will be assigned to the RLF, St. Hilaire (less east section), and TRF (west of Hwy 59) exchanges, with a reporting location in RLF. The person selected for this position will also be assigned to work in other areas when required by the Company.
CLASSIFICATION: District Representative RLF, St. Hilaire (less east section), and TRF (west of Hwy 59) exchanges

Primary duties will include, but are not limited to: functioning as the local Company representative and interacting with communities within the assigned exchanges; insuring that our members receive prompt and quality service; promote, sell, install and maintain telecommunications equipment and services, security equipment and services (including intrusion, Smart Home, access control and CCTV), video products and services (such as IP, cable television, and GV Local Channel equipment), PC hardware and software, data network equipment, data network cabling, local and wide area networks; as well as all other services and equipment offered by the Company; working at Company-sponsored events (such as customer appreciation days and fairs); be responsible on a daily basis for service orders, trouble tickets and sales activities in assigned areas; and accurate and timely completion of required paperwork.

Requirements and preferred qualifications for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Applicant must:
a) Have experience in the sale, installation, and maintenance of single-line telecommunications equipment.
b) Have experience in the sale, installation, and maintenance of key & PABX business telecommunications equipment, and security equipment (including alarm, Smart Home, access control and CCTV systems).
c) Be able to install and maintain GVTV school and local content channel equipment including tri-caster, cameras, and audio equipment.
d) Work extended hours, without advance notice, when workload requires.
e) Have a valid Power Limited Technician license. (If applicant does not have this license, license must be obtained within 12 months of the date applicant qualifies to take the licensure exam.)
f) Reside within one of the following exchanges within 6 months of starting District Representative duties: RLF, St. Hilaire (less east section), and TRF (west of Hwy 59) exchanges.
g) Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with subscribers, co-workers, and the public.
h) Maintain and operate test equipment and tools used by Garden Valley.
i) Learn and adapt to technology and training, as is required, on an ongoing basis.
j) Be able and willing to work and drive during inclement weather and in adverse conditions.
k) Climb ladders and be comfortable working with heights and in confined spaces.
l) Do the necessary paperwork and recordkeeping associated with service requirements and other records necessary for the operation of the Company.
m) Obtain proper licensing, as required by law.
n) Have neat and orderly work habits.
o) Be at least 18 years of age with a valid driverís license.

Preference may be given to applicants:
a) With strong sales experience.
b) Able to install and maintain FTTH equipment and its applications, DSL, analog CATV plant and digital IP video.
c) With a working knowledge of digital carrier equipment and its applications.
d) With experience in installation and maintenance of business communications systems.
e) With experience in T1, PRI, Ethernet circuits and their applications.
f) With experience in computer networking and software applications.
